SPORT TEAM CHALLENGE PENTATHLON

Event Details

A 5-station team building activity with facilitator and assistant… includes food, facility, private

meeting location, activities, etc. For a minimum of 24 people, total cost is $95 (plus a $250 set-up

fee)! Recommended team size is 6-12 people.

Module #1: The Complete Grand Prix NASCAR Racing Experience

Experience the high adrenaline thrill of Grand Prix racing combined with the opportunity to

develop a team identity! Every great racing star has an identity – an image their fans can

recognize. During this 30 minute endurance race, your team must not only make the most laps,

but also develop a team name, logo, and slogan, which will be proudly displayed on their race

car. And just like in the NASCAR experience, pit stops will be a necessary part of your journey!

Create a team identity and experience the full impact of Grand Prix racing with this high

adrenaline racing module, combining physical endurance and creative dexterity to produce a

winning team!

Module #2: The Ascent Challenge Strategy Team Climb

Mountain climbing has never been this challenging! Mark Wellman, world famous paraplegic

climber (and a top athlete by any standard), knows what it takes to reach new heights, regardless

of the barriers in his life. His life motto, “Never give up and never give in,” has pushed him to

scale such giants as the granite monster El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park, as well as

traversing the great mountain passes of Europe. Wellman recognizes the importance of working

as a team, no matter what challenges are encountered.

The goal in this challenge is deceptively simple; the team that climbs the highest scores the most

points. Six climbing stations are available on our 40 foot climbing wall… teams must utilize all six

stations in their climb to the top.

Okay, that’s easy. The challenge comes when you discover that some participants are

blindfolded, and some have their legs bound together. Moreover, each team must work together

to create an implementation strategy that will enable all participants to maximize their

performance. We’ve “doctored” the scoring a little to add some incentive for the “disabled”

participants to perform well… now it’s even more important that participants work together as a

team to ensure maximum achievement for all their members.

Module #3: Pro Baseball Pop Fly Challenge

You bunt, you wack the ball… you pitch, you lob the ball… you catch, you place your body under

the ball and happen to prevent it from hitting the ground….

Okay, so Ken Griffey may be somewhat more professional in his approach to baseball than we

are, but that’s okay. Our version of big league baseball makes everyone a winner, with teams

rotating through the duties of pitching, batting, and fielding. The goal here is really super simple –

score as many points as possible in our $4million batting facility by catching as many balls as

possible (yes, even if that means strategically placing your body between the ball and the

ground!).

This timed event offers a lot of assistance with basic batting protocol. Everyone can be a winner,

and everyone participates in every role.

Module #4: Golf Speed Challenge

Finally, accuracy doesn’t matter! Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods may both disagree with our

professional opinion, but we just don’t care. In this team development challenge, your mission is

to sink nine challenging holes on our miniature golf putting green. You may have become

suspicious after reading about some of our other challenge modules as to what we may have up

our sleeve… and you’d be right to question our motives!

Putting a little ball into a hole isn’t usually all that difficult, but it is when you’re blindfolded! Learn

to communicate clearly and accurately on our version of the PGA golf tour (minus the “PGA” part,

of course). Helen Keller said it best when she challenged her audience to imagine how they

would feel if they were stricken blind. “In that dark world,” she said, “wouldn’t you be glad if a

friend took you by the hand and said, ‘Come with me and I will teach you to do some of the things

you used to do when you could see.”1 With that challenge comes our own – work with your team

mates to overcome some significant challenges and putt nine holes as fast as possible; the

quickest nine holes wins.

How good are you at communicating instructions?

Module #5: Game Show Dinner Experience

This is the finale for the Sports Team Challenge Pentathlon. By this stage people are usually

hungry, so we incorporate dinner in to the Game Show Experience. Participants compete, for

their teams (and usually in their teams) for the all-respected first, second, and third place. Game

Show challenges vary, but are based on the Hollywood-style events, complete with lighting, glitter

back drop, rear-screen projection of interactive game show images, full-on professional game

show podiums, an experienced MC, and more. This conclusion to the package will leave your

people energized, excited, and talking about the event for a long time to come!

Thus the team with the most participation and group synergy will inevitably win.

Die Hard ranger

So you think you have what it takes to be a African park ranger! Well just see about that, your team will be tested with our puzzles. If you pass these hands on, story problems faster then any other applicants it will prove your team has what it takes to work in the African savanna.

Puzzles:

Two water jugs three gallon and five gallon and ample supply of water and they must get four gallons of water exactly.

Slide puzzle made of several numbered blocks and the object is to slide the blocks around in order to get the number 1 block out of the puzzle.

Just bridge it! There is a river a head and you have to get your truck and lion to the new conservation area. The current of the river is too strong to drive through or even put any supports for a bridge. So your goal is to build a bridge with the provided materials (marsh mallows and spaghetti) that spans the entire river and will support your truck and lion.

Red Rock Crab Rescue

It’s chow time on the island and fortunately for your team this island’s most delectable morsels don’t wiggle, squirm or slither down your throat. During your stay on the Island we’ll be serving up the native red rubber backed crab. They are indeed a tad bit chewy, but they’re abundantly found on the beaches of our island.  Team members will dive into a simulated ocean looking for crabs. When the game begins, your team will hunt for crabs, deliver them to other team mates and fling them using a special crab catapult, toss them around a bit to tenderize them, then plop them into a pot. Every crab in the pot scores a point and the team with the most points win.

Lose Your Nerve – Bridges Out

Bridges Out!

If you could only jump a little farther! The bridge is out and your team has to reach the other side under the time limit. The icy polar river below is ten feet across and you have two boards to create a bridge for your team to cross. The team must move quickly, but don’t fall in or your team will start over. (Some members will be blindfolded)
